1856, 4 c, black, on magenta, provisional issue, displaying the desirable manuscript initials of postal clerk ETED(alton), showing large even margins and brilliant colour, with light Demerara datestamp of 17 June 1856, usual air-holes and small thin in the margin outside the stamp imprint are mentioned for full accuracy, ink etching and pressed crease, a very rare stamp in a very fresh state of preservation, the earliest known usage of the very rare initials ETED/recorded from June to August 1856, one of only seven known, ex John E. du Pont/Lot 60073, David Feldman SA/sold for 40,000 Euro, signed Thier, cert.
