China Postal Stationery. Foreign Post Offices. Incoming Mail. Belgium: 1900 (1 Nov.) 5c. + 5c. reply card green to Shanghai franked with additional 5c. alongside, both tied by 'MOLENBEEK/BOULDLEOPOLD II' cds with the same cancellation adjacent. The arrival cancellations were applied on the back of the return card, 'SHANG-HAI' French post office (27.12) and 'SHANGHAI/LOCAL POST' (28.12). The reply card to Belgium is uprated with C.I.P 1c. and 2c. tied by Shanghai bilingual cds, partly covered by two French overprinted 'Chine' on 10c. tied by 'SHANG-HAI/CHINE' (13.1) cds with Bruxelles arrival (18.2) at foot. The cards have been split and re-joined so that the two address sides are together for display and there are a few age marks. All complete reply cards are very scarce, this example is particularly desirable being uprated in China and with the Foreign Post Officce adhesives. A desirable three-country franking which shows the precise application of UPU rules. The Chinese and French posts accepted the Belgium 5cts pre-paid reply card at the correct postage rates. Photo.
