Roberts, Falkland Islands 1933" VERY FINE AND UNIQUE GROUP OF FIVE HAND-COLORED PHOTOGRAPHIC ESSAYS OF THE 1933 CENTENARY ISSUE. ALL WERE ACQUIRED BY MAJOR SPAFFORD DIRECTLY FROM GEORGE ROBERTS -- THE DESIGNER OF THE ISSUE. Of the twelve values chosen for this Centenary issue, eleven were designs from George Roberts. A 9p value was created and depicted a "River of Stones" but was ultimately rejected. A decision was made that a 9p value was not necessary but chose a 6p value instead which ultimately became a Fin Whale design.
