CRIMEA WAR. 1855 envelope to Paris with a pair of 20c tied by a
rectangle of dots with ‘ACCG’ in the centre. Alongside is an ARMEE
D’ORIENT QUARTIER Gal. 9 FEV 55 cancel. A Paris 22 FEV 55 arrival
cancel is on the back. The whole force sent by France to the Black
Sea was 309,268 soldiers. 70,000 were killed or died in the
hospitals, or were otherwise missing. It is considered that 93,000
were wounded and survived. This compares to 22,000 British deaths

town removed piecemeal, whereas a French, English and Sardinian
Camp exist. The Russians throw a few shells every now and then.,
